Preserving Your Memories - Week 1 - Mats

There is no question that everyone has been affected by our country's economic state. There are websites, magazine articles and talk shows dedicated to the subject of saving money. So, it's no surprise that many companies are cutting corners in order to offer their consumers cheaper prices. However, with the cheaper prices come cheaper products. That is why over the next few weeks, we are going to go through the ins and outs of Custom Framing. What you need to know about high quality products and why you should use them.

This week we are going to be discussing mats. Here at Wal-Art Gallery, we understand the importance of preserving your artwork. It doesn't matter if it is an original oil painting, a poster, or your grandmother's wedding photographs, you have chosen to frame your artwork because you found it important enough to showcase it on your walls. That is why we are starting with mats because it is the material that lies next to your artwork.

If you have had something framed before, you may have noticed around the edges, near the matboard, some discoloration in the artwork.
This is caused by the paper matboard being used. A lot of paper mats, although less expensive, are not acid or lignin free. Which causes your artwork, overtime, to be perminatley discolored. Which not only leaves your art work looking obscured but it also depreciates the value of your art. That is why you need to use quality products. The mats we offer to our consumers preserves your artwork and keeps it looking just the way it did when you brought it in. Preserving the look of your art for years to come.
